Overview
About Government Exam Age Calculator
Every government job notice gives an age limit counted on one fixed date, not on the day you apply. Most also print the same rule as a pair of dates: for 21 to 32 years as on 1 August 2026, you must be born between 2 August 1994 and 1 August 2005. This calculator works out both: your exact age in years, months and days on that date, and the born-between dates for your category.
The rule used is the one UPSC, SSC and the banks write: you must have reached the lower age, and must not have reached the upper age (plus your relaxation) on the cut-off date. Someone who turns 32 on 1 August 2026 is out for a 21 to 32 limit; someone a day younger is in.
Relaxation only raises the upper age. For central government jobs it is 3 years for OBC (non-creamy layer), 5 for SC and ST, and 10 more for persons with benchmark disability (so 13 for OBC and 15 for SC/ST with PwBD). State jobs and some posts follow their own rules, so there is a box for extra years.
It also shows the day you reach the lower age and the last cut-off date on which you are still under the upper age, so you can see which future notifications you can still apply for.

Good to know
- The exam limits are the usual ones. Limits, cut-off dates and relaxation can change each year and differ by post, so the notification you apply under always decides.
- It checks age only, not the number of attempts, education or other conditions.
- Ex-servicemen relaxation depends on the years served and the post, so it is not worked out for you. Add it in Extra relaxation.
- A few notifications count age in completed years differently. If the born-between dates shown do not match your notification, follow the notification.
Fix a problem
Troubleshooting
The born-between dates are one day off from my notification
Check the cut-off date you entered. If it is right, the notice uses a different rule; follow the dates it prints.
My exam is not in the list
Choose Other / state exam and type the lower and upper age from the notification.
My state gives women or local candidates extra years
Add those years in Extra relaxation. They are added to the upper age.
The date box is hard to use on my phone
Tap the year in the date picker to jump years, or type the date if your browser shows a text box.
FAQ
Frequently asked questions
How is age calculated for government exams?
On the cut-off date in the notification, not on the day you apply. You must have reached the lower age and must not have reached the upper age (plus relaxation) on that date.
What is my age as on 1 August 2026 if I was born on 15 March 2000?
26 years, 4 months and 17 days.
What does "born between" mean in a notification?
It is the age limit written as dates. For 18 to 27 years as on 1 January 2026, you must be born between 2 January 1999 and 1 January 2008, both days included.
How much age relaxation do OBC, SC and ST get?
For central government jobs: 3 years for OBC (non-creamy layer), 5 years for SC and ST. EWS gets none. States set their own.
How much relaxation do PwBD candidates get?
10 years on top of the category relaxation in central jobs: 10 for General and EWS, 13 for OBC and 15 for SC/ST.
If the limit is 32, can I apply at 32 years and 6 months?
Usually no. UPSC, SSC and bank notices say you must not have reached 32 on the cut-off date, so you must be 31 years, 11 months and some days or younger.
What is the age limit for SSC CGL?
Usually 18 years (20 for a few posts), with an upper limit of 27, 30 or 32 depending on the post. Type the limits for your post in the age boxes.
Is my date of birth saved?
No. The calculation happens in your browser and nothing is stored or sent.
