Overview
About SIP Calculator
A SIP (systematic investment plan) puts a fixed amount into a mutual fund every month. Each instalment grows for the months left, so early instalments grow the most. This calculator uses the method most Indian fund calculators use: the yearly return divided by 12 as the monthly growth, with each SIP paid at the start of the month.
₹10,000 a month for 10 years at 12% means ₹12 lakh invested and an estimated value of about ₹23.2 lakh. Leave it for 20 years and the value is close to ₹1 crore, though you invest only ₹24 lakh. That is compounding: gains start earning gains.
A step-up raises the SIP every year. ₹5,000 a month raised by 10% each year for 10 years grows to about ₹16.9 lakh, against ₹11.6 lakh for a flat ₹5,000. Lumpsum shows a one-time investment compounded once a year.
These are estimates at a steady return. Real fund returns go up and down every year, and tax on gains is not taken off.

Good to know
- Returns are not guaranteed. Equity funds can lose money, especially over short periods.
- Expense ratio, exit load and capital gains tax are not taken off.
- Some calculators use a slightly different monthly rate, so their answers can differ a little.
- This is not investment advice. Read the scheme documents or ask a SEBI-registered adviser.

Troubleshooting
Another SIP calculator shows a slightly different value
Some use a compounded monthly rate or pay the SIP at the end of the month. Both give a little less than this method.
What return should I enter?
Use a conservative figure. 10 to 12% is a common long-term guess for equity funds, 6 to 8% for debt funds.
The year table is missing
It appears for SIPs of 2 years or more.
