The tool checks the file it makes against these numbers. A passing file is not a guarantee that the NEET UG portal will accept it.
Good to know for NEET UG
- A live photo is also captured by webcam or phone during the application and matched with your Aadhaar photo. It is separate from the uploaded photo.
- Keep 6 to 8 passport size and 4 to 6 postcard size (4 x 6 inch) colour prints with a white background. The postcard photo is pasted on the admit card proforma and is not uploaded.
- The 2026 bulletin does not ask for the name and date to be printed on the uploaded photo. The name strip is left off unless you turn it on.

How to resize the NEET UG photo and signature

Choose the picture from your gallery or take a new one. JPG, PNG, WebP and iPhone HEIC pictures work.

Drag and zoom until the face fits the guide (or the signature fills the box). Fix the brightness or contrast if needed.

Press Make. The file comes out inside the allowed KB range, and the tool checks the downloaded file itself: format, KB, pixels and print size for the NEET UG form.
Avoid mistakes
Why NEET UG photos get rejected
- The photo is outside 10 to 200 KB. Files that are too small are refused as well as files that are too big.
- The signature is outside 10 to 100 KB, or it is a photo of the whole page instead of a close crop of the signature.
- The face is too small, cut off at the top, or turned to one side.
- The background is dark, patterned or has shadows, or the photo is blurred, too dark or too bright.
- A selfie, a group photo, a photo of a printed photo, or an old photo was used.
- The file is a PNG, HEIC or PDF when the form wants JPG, or it was renamed instead of converted.
Tips for a clear photo and signature
- White background, colour or black and white, with about 80% of the picture being the face, ears visible and no mask.
- Keep the face straight and fill about three quarters of the photo height, from the top of the hair to the chin. Eyes open, mouth closed, no caps or dark glasses.
- Sign on plain white paper with a black or dark blue pen, press firmly, and photograph it from straight above in daylight.
- Crop closely around the signature or thumb mark. White space wastes the size limit and makes the mark look small.
- Use the same photo everywhere in the NEET UG application and keep a few prints; the same photo is often needed at the exam centre.
