The tool checks the file it makes against these numbers. A passing file is not a guarantee that the GSSSB portal will accept it.

Good to know for GSSSB

  • Sign in black or blue ink on white paper.
  • Some websites say the photo must have a white background and be less than a year old. That is not in the OJAS instructions we checked; follow your advertisement.

Step by step

How to resize the GSSSB photo and signature

  1. 1

    Pick the document

GSSSB is already selected. Choose photo or signature; the size and KB range from the OJAS upload instructions are applied for you.

  2. 2

    Add your picture

Choose the picture from your gallery or take a new one. JPG, PNG, WebP and iPhone HEIC pictures work.

  3. 3

    Crop and adjust

Drag and zoom until the face fits the guide (or the signature fills the box). Fix the brightness or contrast if needed.

  4. 4

    Make and download

Press Make. The file comes out inside the allowed KB range, and the tool checks the downloaded file itself: format, KB, pixels and print size for the GSSSB form.

Avoid mistakes

Why GSSSB photos get rejected

  • The photo is outside up to 15 KB. Files that are too small are refused as well as files that are too big.
  • The signature is outside up to 15 KB, or it is a photo of the whole page instead of a close crop of the signature.
  • The face is too small, cut off at the top, or turned to one side.
  • The background is dark, patterned or has shadows, or the photo is blurred, too dark or too bright.
  • A selfie, a group photo, a photo of a printed photo, or an old photo was used.
  • The file is a PNG, HEIC or PDF when the form wants JPG, or it was renamed instead of converted.

Tips for a clear photo and signature

  • Recent colour passport size photo on a plain light background.
  • Keep the face straight and fill about three quarters of the photo height, from the top of the hair to the chin. Eyes open, mouth closed, no caps or dark glasses.
  • Sign on plain white paper with a black or dark blue pen, press firmly, and photograph it from straight above in daylight.
  • Crop closely around the signature or thumb mark. White space wastes the size limit and makes the mark look small.
  • Use the same photo everywhere in the GSSSB application and keep a few prints; the same photo is often needed at the exam centre.
