Overview
About HEIC to JPG Converter
iPhones save photos as HEIC (High Efficiency Image Container) to use about half the space of JPG. The trouble starts when you share them: many Windows PCs, older Android phones, government and job portals, and plenty of websites cannot open HEIC, or reject it as a wrong file type. JPG opens everywhere, so converting HEIC to JPG solves all of these at once.
This converter does the work inside your browser. Your photos are not uploaded to any server, so there is nothing to delete afterwards and nobody else ever sees them. Each picture keeps its full size in pixels, and JPG is saved at high quality unless you choose a smaller file.
The new file holds only the picture. Camera details and the GPS location stored in the original HEIC are not copied, which is safer when you send a photo to someone you do not know.
When it helps
- Sending iPhone photos to someone on Windows or an older Android phone
- Uploading a photo to a form or portal that accepts only JPG
- Opening HEIC files copied from an iPhone onto a PC
- Converting a whole holiday album at once and saving it as a ZIP

Good to know
- Live Photos and bursts are converted as one still picture, the main image.
- HDR and wide colour (Display P3) photos are saved as standard JPG colour, so very bright highlights can look a little flatter.
- The first photo can take a few seconds on Chrome and Android while the converter loads (about 3 MB). Safari on iPhone and Mac reads HEIC itself and is faster.
- Very large batches use a lot of memory on a phone. Convert 20 or so at a time if the page slows down.
Fix a problem
Troubleshooting
It says the converter could not be loaded
The HEIC decoder is fetched the first time it is needed. Check your connection and add the photo again.
It says the file is already a JPG
Your iPhone already sent it as JPG (this happens when you share or email photos). You can use it as it is.
My photo could not be read
The file may be damaged or only partly copied. Copy it from the phone again, or open it on the iPhone and share it as JPG.
The JPG is bigger than the HEIC
That is normal: HEIC packs photos about twice as tightly. Choose Medium or Small file, or resize it with Resize & Compress Image to 100KB.
I want my iPhone to save JPG from now on
On the iPhone open Settings > Camera > Formats and choose Most Compatible. New photos are then saved as JPG.
FAQ
Frequently asked questions
How do I convert HEIC to JPG?
Choose your HEIC photos here, keep JPG selected, and download. Each photo converts in a second or two, and a batch can be saved as one ZIP.
Is it free, and do I need an account?
Yes, it is free and there is no account, sign-up or watermark. There is also no software to install.
Are my photos uploaded?
No. The conversion happens in your browser on your own device, so the photos are never sent anywhere and there is nothing to delete afterwards.
Will I lose quality?
The JPG keeps the full size in pixels and is saved at high quality, so the difference is very hard to see. Choose PNG if you want no compression at all.
How do I open HEIC files?
On a Mac or iPhone they open in Photos. On Windows you need the HEIF and HEVC extensions from the Microsoft Store, and older Android phones may not open them at all. The simplest way is to convert them to JPG here; a JPG opens on any device.
Can I convert many HEIC photos at once?
Yes, up to 50 at a time. Download them all together with Download all as ZIP.
Is the location removed from the photo?
Yes. The JPG holds only the picture, without the GPS location or camera details stored in the original.
Can I convert HEIF to JPG too?
Yes. HEIF is the file format and HEIC is the name Apple uses for HEIF photos, so this works as a HEIF to JPG converter as well: .heif files are converted the same way.
